Yellow Alert Stories

Vicky's Story

“Blake was admitted to our local hospital when he was two days old with a high temperature and suspected infection. He started to become jaundiced but at the time it was dismissed as breast feeding jaundice.

"Over the next few weeks he was seen by numerous medical professionals and had blood tests but they all failed to recognise what was going on.

"Thank goodness that when we went to a follow up appointment we saw a different doctor who took one look at him and said “I'm ringing King's.” It all spiralled from there but because of the delays Blake did not receive his Kasai until he was almost 12 weeks old.”
